Volvo DRIVe diesels get automatic gearbox
Volvo has announced that they are offering their S60, V60, V70 & S80 DRIVe Diesels with an auto ‘box option, with the same emissions and economy as manual cars. There was a time, not very long ago, when seekers of economical cars had to wear a very hairy shirt to achieve silly mpg. That meant giving up any semblance of comfort, size or luxury in your transport, and an automatic gearbox was a definite no-no.

The company is working with Zytek, and the projected emissions figures are 48g/km on the combined cycle, with the full lifecycle CO2 impact of the T.27 being 42% less than the average UK car.
Astra GTC Concept Paris
Vauxhall sneaked us a peek at the 2012 Vauxhall Astra VXR a couple of weeks ago – slightly titivated and called the Astra GTC Concept admittedly – but the 2012 Vauxhall Astra VXR none the less. And we ran the story, even though there was precious little to say beyond they’d turned the ‘blades’ round on the doors to make it look more butch and that it’d turn up when the 3 door Astra does in a years time. But Vauxhall has decided to throw a little more out there, so we get images of the interior and some firm (ish) news on the oily bits.
